What is Bluray?

Blu ray is the leading format for high definition DVD playback and recording. Coupled with a compatible player, blu ray offers super sharp video playback way beyond other popular digital formats, such as standard DVDs.

In addition to video playback, blue ray DVDs also boast data storage capacities almost 6 times greater than a standard DVD, with a typical bluray disc providing 25GB or storage (or 50GB for dual layer discs).

Unlike traditional DVDs, blu-ray discs are read and recorded using a blue-violet laser, which has a much shorter wavelength than the red laser used on other DVDs. This means that it is possible to focus the laser with much greater precision, hence the improved picture quality and storage capacity. Blu-ray is the predominate standard for high definition video playback, and will deliver a real impact when used for video, multimedia and promotions.
