3D lenticular printing

Lenticular Printing

To compliment our wide range of creative packaging, we offer Lenticular technology print technology.

Lenticular is the process of using a Lenticular lens to create an image that appears to have depth, to change or move when viewed at different angles. The production technique is based on a particular processing of common images, they are run through a special software and put together with a special sheet called “Lenticular Sheet” . The end result is often nothing short of astonishing as the Lenticular makes the observer see a different image depending on their point of view.

Eye-catching uses for lenticular printing:

3D lenticular cardsWhilst Lenticular is an established technology, printing methods and finishing have evolved and improved ten fold over the last few years meaning the quality is superior resulting in a better end product.

Lenticular used to be a novelty item but is now widely used for enhanced marketing to show products in motion and strengthen brand appearance. As demands have changed, Lenticular printing has evolved from small finished sizes (business card size) to large-format, Lithographic Lenticular printing and finishing.

Lenticular print is a really eye catching product and can be used in addition to our creative packaging and can be added to Slipcases, Slider Packs, DVD wraps, Digi style Tray Packs and many more options from our creative packaging range.

How lenticular works:

The technique comes to life by slicing an image into strips and printing the image on to the reverse side of a piece of plastic (the Lenticular lens) that has a series of long, thin moulded lenses. The plastic is often PVC, APET, Acrylic or PTEG. Sometimes the images are printed onto paper then bonded on to the Lenticular plastic.

Each image is lined up with the relevant lens so that the light that is reflected of each strip is slightly refracted in a different direction but the light from other strips of a given image are sent in exactly the same parallel direction. The end result is that one eye observing the print sees a single whole image but at a different view or angle, will see a different image.
