In car Blu ray player released
Panasonic has unveiled the first ever Blu ray player for cars, according to the latest reports.
The new player went on display at the 2007 Toyko Motor Show, the Japanese website AV Watch reported. It was shown next to a seven-inch LCD screen, with the two units connected together by an HDMI link. It provides support for the Blu ray Java-based interactivity system BD J.
There are as-of-yet no details about when the unit might become available on the open market.
In related news, a new study has shown that Blu ray media currently has the edge over HD DVD media, outselling it by a margin of two to one.
Home Media Research says that the figures are accurate for the first nine months of the year - but analysts predict that the scene could change over the coming few months, as a flurry of new films are set to be released on the HD DVD format.
Sales of Blu ray discs reached 2.6 million units between January and September 30th - while the HD DVD equivalent total stood at 1.4 million.
