Format war reaches stalemate
The high definition DVD format war between HD and Blu-ray has reached a stalemate, experts have claimed.
Despite Blu-ray winning the sales race and having four major studios backing the format there is no clear victor in sight, the New York Times reports.
According to the publication there may be no winner to the stand-off, with both formats remaining competitive.
"What if nobody wins the high-definition DVD format wars? That increasingly looks to be the situation for the next-generation DVD technology, which is available to consumers in two incompatible formats," the publication revealed.
And the American paper revealed that, if there is to be a winner, the decisive factor could be which has the most prestigious films.
The article continued: "Consumers are usually advised to wait until a clear winner emerges. But if there is a deciding factor, it might be which format has the more compelling movies."
