Memory stick supplies imagery to energy-saving TV
Sony looks set to launch a new energy-saving TV that uses a memory stick to display still images instead of normal shows or movies.
The company is convinced that its TV uses 35 per cent less energy when displaying images from a memory stick that it would otherwise and also that the system will give consumers a more likeable living space when they are not watching television.
Bravia W4000 LCD screens will be the first to offer the added energy-saving feature and Sony has yet to announce a release date for the product, HDTV news reports.
The TVs are to be made available with their memory stick connection capacity in 32 inch, 40 inch, 46 inch and 52 inch varieties and the video content is displayed at 24 frames per second.
Sony is among the world's leading electronics equipment suppliers and in addition to TVs the Japanese firm develops personal computers, DVD players, camcorders and home theatre solutions.
