Shell adopts DVD to promote green credentials

The British and Dutch oil production company Shell has distributed a DVD in a number of countries with the aim of promoting its environmental credentials, it has emerged.

Shell is likely to have used DVD duplication technology in order to produce enough copies of the film entitled 'Cleaning the Air', which was offered free with each edition of the Sunday Telegraph recently.

The focus of the DVD is largely on the energy giant's efforts to develop a technology capable of using natural gas as a source of liquid fuel and the promotional campaign in also being run in other countries around the world, reports Brand Republic.

In addition to Cleaning the Air, Shell's recently distributed DVD contained a film dubbed 'Eureka', which dealt with some of the company's more recent oil drilling projects.

Last week, digital publishing firm Rimage and encoding operator Digital Rapids announced their plans to collaborate on the development of an end-to-end coding and production system that could provide a boost to the DVD duplication industry.
