Durable and flexible DVD discs unveiled
A company has devised a new form of DVD that can be wrapped around a drinks bottle.
ProAction Media has developed its new Flex-Lite Discs, which it claims are "flexible, durable and definitely attract attention".
The company says that the new technology can open up "innovative mailing options" for firms using DVD duplication to appeal to consumers.
According to ProAction Media, the Flex-Lite Discs are 100 per cent recyclable and lighter than regular discs due to 50 per cent less plastic used in production.
The discs are also offered in a range of fragrances including orange and strawberry.
Shannon Neal, chief operating officer for ProAction Media, said that the discs offer companies "a rare chance to take advantage of a cutting edge material".
"We're also seeing higher rates of play (people playing the DVD in their computer or on their TV) because of the unique nature of this bendable media," added Ms Neal.
A new study by Futuresource Consulting found that 38 per cent of UK users had copied a DVD disc in the last six months.
