New military-grade flash drive launched

A technology company has unveiled its new line of portable flash drives which it claims incorporates "military-grade" shock and vibration protection technology.

Olixir Technology's Mobile DataVault family of transportable flash memory solutions are available in sizes ranging from 8GB to 500GB and can withstand shocks of greater than 12,000 Gs, according to the company.

Separated into three product lines, the high-capacity Mobile DataVault 3DX, ultra-rugged Mobile DataVault 2LX and 2LE and Mobile DataVault FMX are all built to similar "rugged" specifications and attach to a PC using USB ports.

Darshan Shah, president of Olixir, said the drives are "the ultimate in durable and modular transportable storage solutions".

"While the extreme durability of our drives is a distinct and substantial differentiator among other ruggedised storage products in the market, the versatility provided through our unique modular design has proven to be one of the primary features that is driving increased adoption of our solutions, " he added.

Transcend recently launched its new "ultra-tiny" USB drive, the JetFlash T5, which measures 29.9 milimetre x 15.3mm x 6.1mm and weighs only 2 grams.
